KC Power 17-1 receive a #6 National ranking by

6. KC Power “Rangers” (Kansas)

The Facts: There were times last year when we were convinced Power was the best 16s team in the country. They have arguably the best setter in the country in Madison Lilley and talented players at every position. We like this team so much, in fact, that we might have started them at No. 1 but for the ACL injury to MB Hannah Weber. Coach Mike Stowell hopes to have her back in June. Even without Weber, seven impact players are back from a team that tied for fifth in 16 Open last summer. Besides Lilley, there are outsides Megan Cooney, a 6-4 beast who can also play on the right; and steady, reliable Megan Kuperand Lauren Stubbs, neither tall but both very crafty. Two great defenders, Izzy Enna and Lexie Longbine, also return, as does 6-5 middle Naomi Hickman, a Creighton recruit. Two newcomers to watch include Nebraska recruit Callie Schwarzenbach, a dynamic and athletic 6-4 middle; and OHGenna Berg, a 5-9 leaper cut from the same cloth as Stubbs.

Anything else? Lilley helped Blue Valley West win a state title this year. That’s right! She’s Lilley of the Valley!
